Born in 1941, Eugene Klakovich was raised in Southern California and soon spent
4 years in the U.S.Coast Guard.
After leaving the Coast Guard he entered Cal State University, Long Beach and graduated
with a Bachelor of Fine Arts in 1968. He then obtained a teaching credential and taught art in Los Angeles City high schools.
Prior to his full time art career, Klakovich had varied vocations. After teaching art for 5 years, in 1973 he
went to Mexico to make a film with an old sailing ship; he then began a sail training program for youth. Then came work in
construction. Wanting to be creative, he began designing interiors, remodeling buildings, homes and building furniture. In
1978, Klakovich resumed serious painting.
1989 was a rebirth year for Klakovich. After a few years illness, he
received the 144th heart transplant at UCLA. From then on his life needed creative fulfillment. His creative soul needs expression
- the artist must be seen; ideas, feelings, and visions. His work remains varied as his life experiences. Different mediums
are needed as ideas develop to which he can address his love of life; now his second life.
Klakovich's paintings,
celebrating the transplant experience, are available as limited edition Giclee prints on canvas or heavy paper. CONTACT: klak144@cox.net Eugene A. Klakovich 762 W. 30th St. Apt. 12, San Pedro, CA 90731 310-832-5181
